Statement On Supreme Court Ruling That Guts The Voting Rights Act
TOPEKA, KS – Today, Senator Cindy Holscher, Democratic candidate for Governor, released the following statement following the Supreme Court’s Louisiana v Callais decision:
“I am appalled at the Supreme Court’s ruling that further emboldens GOP politicians’ schemes to redraw maps in ways that silence voters – particularly minority voters,” said Sen. Cindy Holscher. “As we’ve seen right here in Kansas, extremist politicians are trying to maintain their power by any means necessary, including silencing the votes of voters they don’t like through redistricting schemes. That’s not how democracy should work and as the next Governor of Kansas, I’ll fight any efforts to take away Kansans’ right to fair representation.”

Cindy Holscher was raised on a farm and brought up with common sense, Midwest values, and a love of her country. Cindy and her husband Greg have lived in Kansas for over 25 years, and their three kids graduated from public schools. She first ran for office to help end the disastrous Brownback experiment and to restore funding to the schools. As a legislator, Cindy co-founded the Women’s Bipartisan Caucus, and she focused on lowering costs for working class and middle class Kansans. Now, she’s running for Governor because Kansas deserves a leader who has a proven track record of fighting for all Kansans.
