Sen. Cindy Holscher Announces State Rep. KC Ohaebosim as Running Mate for Lieutenant Governor

Ohaebosim Brings Strong Education and Healthcare Advocacy to Ticket, Welcoming New Generation of Democratic Leadership in Kansas

TOPEKA, KS — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Senator Cindy Holscher announced State Representative KC Ohaebosim as her running mate for Lieutenant Governor today – underscoring her commitment to affordability, strengthening public schools, and delivering real results for working families across Kansas.

Born in Wichita and a product of Kansas public schools, Ohaebosim (Oh-HOB-oh-sum) currently serves in the Kansas House of Representatives, where he has built a reputation as a pragmatic leader focused on good-paying jobs, public schools, and worker protections for Kansas families.

“I picked KC to be my running-mate because he knows how to lead and fight for Kansans,” said Sen. Cindy Holscher. “He brings new ideas, a fresh voice, and a deep understanding of public policy. We know more of the same is not going to move Kansas forward. I chose a governing partner who shares my commitment to lowering costs for working people, strengthening our schools, and instilling common sense into government. Together, we’re going to fight every day for Kansas.”

“I’m honored to join Senator Holscher’s ticket because she believes government should work for everyday people, not just huge corporations and millionaires,” said Rep. KC Ohaebosim. “Kansans deserve leaders ready to shake up the establishment, challenge the status quo, and fight for a better, people-first future for our state. Cindy has spent her career standing up for people and delivering results, and I’m excited to work alongside her to build a future where everyone can thrive.”

Ohaebosim has earned national recognition for his legislative leadership, including being named Regional Legislator of the Year by the National Black Caucus of State Legislators in both 2022 and 2025. As a state representative, Ohaebosim voted to end the disastrous Brownback tax experiment, strengthen civil rights protections, and support policies aimed at lowering costs for working families.

Former Lieutenant Governor Lynn Rogers, who is the treasurer of the Holscher-Ohaebosim campaign, praised the selection.

“I’ve been Lieutenant Governor of our state and I know what it takes,” said former Lt. Gov. Lynn Rogers. “Cindy and KC are both steady, hardworking leaders who understand Kansas and care deeply about our future. I’m proud to support them and excited to help elect this next generation of Democratic leadership.”

The campaign will officially introduce the Holscher-Ohaebosim ticket at a public rally in Wichita on Friday, where Rogers will deliver introductory remarks.
