Cindy Holscher Wins Democratic Nomination for Governor, Launches General Election Campaign Against Ty Masterson
Kansas Voters Show They Are Ready for a Fighter Who Will Stand Up For Working People and Against Billionaire Tax Giveaways
TOPEKA, KS — State Senator Cindy Holscher released the following statement Tuesday after winning the Democratic nomination for Governor of Kansas:
“I’m deeply honored and grateful to have earned the trust of so many voters across Kansas. People are sick and tired of the politics of the past and are ready for a fighter who won’t bow down to special interests or extremists. People want their leaders to stand up to the corporations that are ripping people off and making things more expensive.
“This victory belongs to everyone in our people-powered movement: the volunteers who knocked on doors, the supporters who made contributions, and everyone across Kansas who believes our government should put working families ahead of the powerful and well-connected.
“I want to thank Senator Corson and Mayor Skoog for their commitment to our state and for their willingness to serve. Our party is stronger because of the debate we had, and I look forward to working alongside them in the months ahead.
“From this moment forward, we are united, and as we turn our attention to November, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Our state cannot afford another extremist like Ty Masterson. The Brownback years are still fresh in our memory— we can’t afford to go back to serving an extremist partisan agenda at the expense of crumbling roads, failing schools, and gutted police departments. We need to move forward, not backwards.

Cindy Holscher was raised on a farm and brought up with common sense, Midwest values, and a love of her country. Cindy and her husband Greg have lived in Kansas for over 25 years, and their three kids graduated from public schools. She first ran for office to help end the disastrous Brownback experiment and to restore funding to the schools. As a legislator, Cindy co-founded the Women’s Bipartisan Caucus, and she focused on lowering costs for working class and middle class Kansans.
