About Senator Cindy Holscher

Senator Cindy Holscher was drawn into public service due to her commitment to public education. In 2016, she walked with a group of education advocates from Shawnee, KS, to Topeka twice to bring attention to the underfunding of public schools under the Brownback administration. Holscher was then elected to the State House of Representatives in 2016 – where she co-founded the Women’s Bipartisan Caucus and helped end the failed Brownback experiment. In 2020, she was elected to the State Senate.

As a legislator, Holscher has prioritized tax cuts for working families and the middle class, funding for public schools, strengthening the economy, and lowering the cost of living. Her efforts helped bring down costs for all Kansans by ending the sales tax on food, eliminating the tax on Social Security, and passing child care tax credits.

Holscher’s grandparents were tenant farmers, her dad was a Marine and construction worker, and her mom worked as a janitor at the local grade school. They raised Cindy with common sense, Midwest values, and a love of our country.  Holscher is a first generation college graduate. Cindy and her husband Greg have lived in Kansas for over 25 years. Their three children are all recent graduates of the state’s outstanding public schools.
