In Last Night’s Debate, Cindy Holscher Stood Up for Kansans While Opponents Stood for Status Quo
Topeka, KS — Last night’s Democratic gubernatorial debate hosted by PBS and the Wichita Eagle showed that Senator Cindy Holscher is the proven fighter for everyday working Kansans, while the other two candidates represent the establishment status quo.
“I’m the only person [on this stage] who’s been delivering for working people over and over again,” said Sen. Cindy Holscher. “I know how to establish coalitions and deliver. I’ve been doing the heavy lifting for ten years, working to get this state on track. And I’m ready to fight more to help working families and get us through this affordability crisis.”
Throughout the night, voters saw Holsher’s opponents offering more of the same — corporate talking points, empty promises, and falsehoods. Senator Ethan Corson doubled down on his endorsement of an incentive package for the Kansas City Chiefs that economists say offers little to no benefits to everyday Kansans. Both he and Mayor Curt Skoog reaffirmed their support for Big Tech’s new AI data centers in Kansas without first establishing safeguards that protect peoples’ electricity bills from surging.
Conversely, Senator Holscher emerged as the only person on the stage offering a vision of Kansas that improves the everyday lives of ordinary people and working families, and the only one with the willingness to put Kansans first over corporate profits.
“Last night, Kansans saw exactly why Cindy Holscher is leading this race, and her performance made the choice clear,” said Campaign Manager Madi Ashcraft. “The other candidates spent the night defending the political establishment and status quo. Cindy spent it fighting for Kansas families. She’s the only candidate on either side of the aisle willing to take on corporate special interests, end taxpayer giveaways to billionaires, stand up to Big Tech’s push for massive AI data centers, and actually lower costs for everyday people. Voters see the difference — and it’s why she’s been able to build a grassroots, people-powered movement that’s leading this race.”
Throughout the debate, Holscher stayed focused on the issues that matter most to Kansas families: lowering the cost of living, fully funding public schools, expanding access to affordable healthcare, protecting taxpayers from corporate giveaways, and creating an economy that works for Kansans, not wealthy corporations or well-connected insiders.
