Sen. Cindy Holscher Announces Candidacy for Kansas Governor

06/12/25

She’s Committed to Real Solutions for Real Kansans – And Fighting for Families, Not Billionaires

Overland Park, KS — Today, Sen. Cindy Holscher officially announced her candidacy for Governor of Kansas. With a proven record of delivering Real Solutions for Real Kansans, Holscher has a bold vision to build a stronger Kansas for working families and the middle class.

“Too many Kansans are still struggling to get by. And the politicians in Washington, DC, are making it worse. I’m running for Governor to find real solutions and to put real Kansans first,” said Senator Cindy Holscher. “I came into politics to fight for our kids and schools. In the legislature, I’ve worked to make life more affordable for families. Billionaires and special interests have too many politicians in their pocket, but I’ll never stop fighting for hardworking people. And I’ll never give up on Kansans.”

As Governor, Cindy Holscher will prioritize Real Solutions for Real Kansans, including:

  • Protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid
  • Investing in public education
  • Providing tax relief for working and middle class Kansans, not billionaires
  • Fighting to ensure Kansas families can afford to live and work here
  • Lowering the cost of healthcare, housing and childcare
  • Standing up for children, seniors, veterans and our farmers

Holscher’s grandparents were tenant farmers, her dad was a Marine and construction worker, and her mom worked as a janitor at the local grade school. They raised Cindy with common sense, Midwest values, and a love of our country.  Holscher is a first generation college graduate. Cindy and her husband Greg have lived in Kansas for over 25 years. Their three children are all recent graduates of the state’s outstanding public schools.

Senator Holscher was drawn into public service due to her commitment to public education. In 2016, she walked with a group of education advocates from Shawnee, KS, to Topeka twice to bring attention to the underfunding of public schools under the Brownback administration. Holscher was then elected to the State House of Representatives in 2016 – where she co-founded the Women’s Bipartisan Caucus and helped end the failed Brownback experiment. In 2020, she was elected to the State Senate.

As a legislator, Holscher has prioritized tax cuts for working families and the middle class, funding for public schools, strengthening the economy, and lowering the cost of living. Her efforts helped bring down costs for all Kansans by ending the sales tax on food, eliminating the tax on Social Security, and passing child care tax credits.

Holscher will hold regional kick-off events in July to welcome people to join in on the campaign. For more information about Holscher and the campaign, visit CindyforKansas.com.
